The Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC) delivered a regulation on March 26th that mandates passengers to take off their shoes during the security check before boarding. Security screening personnel explain that taking off shoes is necessary to detect hidden cutting tools or prohibited objects.
In order to eliminate problems with hidden objects more efficiently, the CAAC has communicated this urgent requirement to every big and small airport across the country; and has urged them to block up any security holes.
In fact, a "shoes-off" policy when passing through a security check is not something new. Domestic airports have implemented this regulation for years. The recently communicated requirement by the CAAC is meant to tighten the rules.
In order to board on time and avoid delays, airports would like to inform passengers to arrive at the airport two hours in advance to handle boarding procedures; and not to carry any prohibited goods.
