Concerts under the theme of "Perform in Harmony—Salute to Beijing 2008 Olympic" kicked off in March in Beijing, Shanghai, and Xi'an. 4,000 young musicians from the U.S. and Canada will participate in this activity. The concerts will be held between March and July this year.

This music festival is sponsored by Kingsway International in corporation with the Children & Young Women's Chorus of the China National Symphony Orchestra.

Kingsway International has a history of touring throughout Continental Europe and the United Kingdom, as well as within Australia, New Zealand and China.

As a part of a music festival that honors excellence in instrumental music and salutes the forthcoming Olympic Games, it is an event that creates bridges between Chinese and American music as well as between performers and audiences.

Rollo A. Dilworth, Associate Professor of Music and Director of Choral Activities and Music Education at the North Park University School of Music in Chicago, has written a piece in Chinese and English that will make its world premiere at the Shanghai festival.

"People from different countries will come together during the Beijing Olympics this summer, which could make the world much more homonious," Dilworth said, when asked why he wrote the piece.
